YOUTH
DAYS...RACING FOR THE FUTURE |

The
Prairie Meadows Youth Days...Racing For The Future
committee would like to invite youth to attend Youth
Days...Racing For The Future. The event will
be held July 30-August 2, 2008. Prairie
Meadows will host 10 youth ages 15-19 at Prairie
Meadows Racetrack in Altoona, IA, for four days of
fun, interactive learning on the backside of the
racetrack. Each participant will experience
one-on-one mentoring with a trainer, assisting with
barn duties, and helping with the training of a
horse which they will see run live race during the
event.

Mallory Greiner (IQHYA President 2008) was a
2007 Youth Days Participant and a Scholarship
Recipient.

TO HOLD HORSE SHOW CLINIC |

Join District 2 at the Benton Co. Fairgrounds on
Saturday, May 17th at 10:00 AM for a Horse Show
Clinic. Topics to be covered include:
Halter, Showmanship, Western Pleasure, Horsemanship,
and English Pleasure. Clinicians Amy Warther
and Pattie Fox will provide advice to participants.

IQHA
ANNOUNCES HORSEBACK RIDING PROGRAM |
IQHA is
excited to announce a new opportunity for people to
be rewarded for enjoying their American Quarter
Horse. We are now offering a Horseback Riding
Program, modeled after the successful AQHA program.
Similar to the national program, our State-level
Program will require participants to be IQHA/IQHYA
members, and to pay a small enrollment fee.
Riders will log the number of hours they spend
riding, be they trail rides, lessons, parades,
training, or other such activities. Competitive
activities, such as horse shows, fairs, and
competitive endurance riding, will not count. All
breeds are welcome.
At the end of the year, awards will be given to the
Youth and Adult riders in both the AQHA and Other
Breed divisions who accumulate the most hours over
the course of the year. Lifetime Benchmark awards
will also be given when riders reach a certain
number of hours.

IOWA
QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION SELECT SALE |
|
The
Iowa Quarter Horse Association announces a new
addition to the IQHA Futurity weekend in 2008... The
Iowa Quarter Horse Association Select Sale will
be held on Saturday, September 27th, 2008 at 6 PM.
The sale will be limited to the first 100 horses
accepted for consignment. Advertising pages in the Sale Catalog will be
available. Weanlings and Yearlings purchased
at the Sale will be eligible to show in special
classes at the 2009 Iowa Futurity Extravaganza. For more information, please visit

ALL-BREED TRAIL RIDE CHARITY EVENT INFORMATION |

The 2008
Iowa Quarter Horse Association All-Breed Charity
Trail Ride will be held on September 13, 2008 at the
Wildwood Hills Ranch in St. Charles, Iowa. All
riders and horses or any breed are welcome.
