2008 IQHA General Futurity Rules
1. Eligibility -
open to all horses registered with the American Quarter Horse
Association. See Halter Futurity Rules for weanling information.
2. Both owner &
exhibitor must be members of the Iowa Quarter Horse Association.
3. Members will be
notified of futurity information through the Iowa Quarter Horse
Magazine.
4. Nominations will
be accepted as received. Payment dates will be determined by U.S.
Post Office cancellation postmarks. No business postage meter dates
will be allowed. Accuracy is the responsibility of the person making
the nomination. We strongly recommend nominations and payments be
sent by Certified Mail. Payment due dates falling on Sunday or a
holiday will be extended to the following day.
5. A copy of the
registration papers must be included with nominations for Open &
Non-Pro Yearling Halter and Open & Non-Pro Performance. See Halter
Futurity Rules for weanling information.
6. An office
charge of $20.00 is included in the nomination payment.
7. In all questions
concerning equipment, rider attire and class procedures, the current
AQHA Rulebook will be used, except futurity rules will be used in a
case of conflict with AQHA Rulebook.
8. Western
Pleasure: class guidelines will follow AQHA rules governing western
pleasure. Horses are to be shown in AQHA-approved equipment/bits
only.
9. Hunter Under
Saddle: class guidelines will follow AQHA rules governing hunter
under saddle. Horses to be shown in AQHA-approved equipment/bits
only.
10. Yearling Longe
Line: class guidelines will follow NSBA Longe Line rules and
guidelines.
11. Entries shall
be placed 1st through 10th place (or through the class if fewer)
with points assigned to each placing. In case of a point tie for
placing, a tie-breaking procedure will be utilized to determine
final standings only. Money for tied placings added together equally
among tied horses.
12. Drug Testing:
all entries are subject to drug testing. See the IQHA Futurity Drug
Testing Policy. Winnings checks are mailed after results of drug
tests are received by IQHA. Performance classes have a $20.00 drug
test fee (DTF) included with nomination payment.
13. Protests: an
exhibitor making an objection to the award of the judge shall lodge
his objection in writing with the Futurity Committee, within 72
hours after the award is made. No objection will be accepted by the
committee unless accompanied by a deposit of $100.00 (one hundred
dollars), which sum shall be forfeited to the futurity if the
objection is not sustained.
14. These rules are
subject to interpretation or change by the IQHA Board of Directors,
provided the question is raised at or prior to the Board of
Directors meeting immediately preceding the futurity date. Otherwise
any interpretation or change shall be made by the IQHA President (or
his proxy) and the members of the Futurity Committee readily
available at the time. If there is not a futurity rule that applies,
the AQHA rulebook will be used.
