AQHA TRAIL RIDE TO BE HELD THIS WEEKEND
ARE YOU TOUGH ENOUGH TO WEAR PINK? This is the question we are asking riders participating in the annual charity trail ride sponsored by the Iowa Quarter Horse Association, an affiliate of the American Quarter Horse Association. This event is part of AQHA's RIDE Program which is an international series of trail rides that celebrates the joys of horseback riding while supporting many areas of the equine industry and other charities. Proceeds from this year's event will benefit the AQHA Foundation and Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research and awareness.
Horses of any breed and riders of all disciplines are welcome to participate. This year's ride is to be held at the beautiful River Valley Lodge & Campground near Farmington, Iowa. River Valley Lodge is a state of the art family oriented facility with a definite western atmosphere. Activities include a wine & cheese reception, ranch horse show, smoked Iowa chop dinner and dance to Wild Wild West Band. Door prizes will be offered throughout the weekend.
Participants should have pre-registered by August 10. For more information please contact Lori Mennenga, IQHA Recreational Riding Advisor at lorikmennenga@hotmail.com or by phoning 641-358-6166.

IQHA TRAIL RIDE GAINS NATIONAL RECOGNITION AS IT RAISES MONEY
FOR HARMONY RANCH THERAPEUTIC RIDING
 |
| The Iowa
Quarter Horse Association recently presented a check of
$500 to Harmony Ranch Therapeutic Riding. Pictured, left
to right, are: Tom Tokheim of Joice, Iowa; Linda
Rodemeyer of Rockwell, Iowa; Meg Hughes of Kanawha,
Iowa (Harmony Ranch Therapeutic Riding staff); and Lori
Mennenga of Meservey, Iowa, RIDE coordinator for the
IQHA. |
The Iowa Quarter Horse Association donated $500 to the Harmony Ranch Therapeutic Riding. This money was raised
through benefit trail rides, which were presented by IQHA as an
affiliate of AQHA’s Ride Program.
AQHA’s RIDE program
is an international series of trail rides that celebrate the
joys of horseback riding while supporting many aspects of the
equine industry as well as other charitable organizations. Last
year’s rides were at Brushy Creek State Recreation Area near
Fort Dodge, Iowa, and at Volga River State Park near Fayette,
Iowa.
This year’s ride is
scheduled for August 20 at Garst Farms Resort near Coon Rapids,
Iowa.
Harmony Ranch
Therapeutic Riding is a non-profit organization based in Clear
Lake, Iowa. Their mission is to use animals and the beauty of
nature to facilitate Christian ministry by providing
therapeutic, educational and recreational opportunities.
Doctors, therapist, riding instructors, and families have become
aware of the positive physical and mental benefits of horseback
riding for individuals physically and/or mentally challenged.
For more
information on Harmony Ranch Therapeutic Riding, contact Linda
Rodemeyer at (641) 822-4681 or Meg Hughes at (641) 860-1605. For
more information on the IQHA benefit trail rides, call Lori
Mennenga at (641) 358-6166.
